HQSAGA™ is a family-owned U.S. children's clothing brand that makes everyday tees and tops for ages 1–5 (sizes 1T–5T) from 100% GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton, with UPF 50+ fabric independently tested by TÜV SÜD. The idea is simple: sun-conscious clothing your child can wear on an ordinary Tuesday, not only on a beach day.

Our Story

HQSAGA™ was started by a mom who never expected sunshine to be one of her parenting worries. As a child, she spent hours outdoors and remembers how sensitive her skin would feel after long days in the sun, though she didn't think much about it back then.

Years later, watching her own kids at daycare, school, the park and on family vacations, she noticed how much of childhood happens outside. Kids are busy chasing butterflies and building sandcastles. They aren't thinking about sunscreen or shade. In her words: "That is our job."

So the goal became clothing kids would actually love to wear: soft, easy for active play, and made with GOTS-certified organic cotton and tested UPF 50+ fabric. You can read the full version on our About / Our Story page.

Why Everyday Clothes, Not a Separate "Sun Line"

When people think about UPF 50+ coverage, they usually picture the beach. But UV doesn't only show up on vacation. The CDC notes that UV rays can reach you on cloudy and cool days, and that in the continental U.S. they're strongest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daylight saving time. That covers a lot of ordinary outdoor time, like daycare recess and afternoons at the park.

How We Back Up What We Say

You'll notice our language is specific rather than big. We say "fabric independently tested by TÜV SÜD to UPF 50+," not "the safest shirt." We say "certified by ICEA, license GOTS-10677," not just "organic." That's deliberate. When you're choosing clothes for a toddler, a license number and a named testing lab are more useful than adjectives. Here's where each of our main claims comes from:

• Organic cotton: GOTS certification through ICEA, supported by GOTS transaction certificates issued for production. We explain what those documents are, and how to check them, in How HQSAGA™ Sources GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton.
• UPF 50+: independent testing by TÜV SÜD. A UPF 50+ result means the tested fabric blocks at least 98% of UV radiation. Read how UPF works on our What Is UPF 50+ page.
